The Center for Equity & Inclusion

The Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI) was developed to enhance and strengthen Pratt Institute’s DEI Strategic Plan, an institutional-wide effort developed to examine and identify concrete ways to create long-lasting change within the Institute.

The CEI recognizes that a commitment to equity and inclusion is fundamental in enhancing the educational experience to inspire creative professionals who will significantly contribute to society through their work and career. To support and advocate for all students, faculty, and staff; to strive to create a welcoming and safe environment where diversity, in all its many forms, is valued and celebrated.

The CEI promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through educational programming/events, dialogues, trainings, and leadership opportunities that support the CEI’s three guiding principles:  

• The CEI shall host intentional educational programs that affirm all identities while providing a safe space for open dialogue and reflection; that seeks to develop cross-cultural humility and understanding.
• The CEI seeks to raise critical consciousness around privilege and oppression as we aim to create a welcoming and affirming campus community.
• The CEI seeks to serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff in addressing social injustices affecting our campus and local, national, and global communities.
